The SPARC (the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition) created an Author Addendum. According to their website, this "legal instrument" will assist authors who want "to modify their copyright transfer agreements with non-open access journal publishers. It allows [authors] to select which individual rights out of the bundle of copyrights [they] want to keep." These rights include the ability to distribute copies for teaching and research purposes or placing the article on an institutional website.
